but orange being the colour of summer was ;)
Welcome back to another Google Trends report by
<3 I don’t even consider myself a nosy person but gosh do I love seeing what people use their search bars for. At the end of the day, we really are all the same. Today’s post has a focus on beauty trends based on searches which is very exciting. I hope that by reading this, it makes you feel just a little bit smarter in your group chats xxDespite all indicators of a looming recession - bandage dress search interest is at an all-time high (orange being the most popular colour). I love being right. When I looked this up on TikTok, a lot of people left comments being shocked that these dresses were making a comeback during tough economic times like these. I thought about it but then realised people spend so much on Labubus so why not bandage dresses?

The sea creature obsession is still a thing with sardine earrings doubling in search over the past week and “fish necklace” is at an all-time high. Pinterest trends is a self fulfilling prophecy.

“photo dump” and “mid rise white jeans” both hit all-time highs in 2025 so we might see low rise jeans make their way out.
Maximalist makeup is rearing its head as “hybrid eyelash extensions” rose +250% in the past month and “wispy eyelash extensions” was a breakout search. YAY.

I have a fascination with nail trends so let’s take a second to look at some of the top trends in this space:
“aurora nails” peaked and “fruit water nails” was a breakout search.
Gen Z are searching up “lipstick nails” as their nail shape of choice while Millenials are sticking with “almond nails”.
“Nail printing machine” search interest has more than doubled. Recession indicator?
“Stitch nails” reached an all-time high as did “lilo nails” BUT “stitch nails” was searched up twice as much.
Fruit nails reached an all-time high this month.

And who doesn't love a good map graphic like this to highlight the important things in the world right now:

TOP 5 trending types of nail designs goes to:
Preppy
Gemini
Blue and green
green and white
Hawaiian
In the world of hair, the top insights were interesting too:
Everyone’s chasing the bob right now — “riviera bob” is up 800%, and “layered French bob” officially hit breakout status.
“Foam hair dye” just hit a 15-year search peak — a nostalgia-fuelled comeback that colourists should have on their radar.
“Slavic braids” weren’t just trending — they hit an all-time high and claimed the top spot among all braided styles.
For men’s hair, the “messy quiff” led the charge, while “side part” quietly broke its own search record — both signalling a shift toward controlled chaos.
The “helicopter perm” flew under the radar… then spiked +600%. One to watch.
“Dragon braid” searches are at an all-time high — a viral moment with serious staying power.

Since 2004, just two clusters of neighbouring states — plus Hawaii — have consistently searched for “middle part haircut” more than “side part haircut.” Regional loyalty runs deep.

Seems everyone wants to be some form of blonde with the top 5 trending hair colours:
Golden blonde
Black
Platinum blonde
Champagne blonde
Light golden brown
Good to know everyone is being sun safe as tinted sunscreen just hit an all-time high in search. “Mineral sunscreen” spikes every June like clockwork, but this year? It hit record-breaking numbers.
Vermont and Wyoming decided to flip the script this Summer as “powder sunscreen” outranked “spray sunscreen” in both states.
Hybrid products are dominating as top breakout searches for SPF went to “Makeup setting spray with SPF” and “self tanner with SPF”. SPF hair spray has also hit an all-time high in May. I have been seeing demand rising in niche SPF uses for various body parts…
Just as much as “tanning oil” spikes every June in America, so does “leg makeup”.
Speaking of spikes in June, “what does poison ivy look like” is fairly normal searches for this time of year, especially for our friends in both Michigan and Ohio.
Searches for “Ginny and Georgia outfits” are up +2,200% in the past week — and leading the charge? The Lululemon cropped jacket, now the top-trending piece linked to the show.

Happy American Father’s Day to those who celebrate. To those who still have a bit of time left and do not know what to get their father figures, perhaps Google searches can help you there. Top trending gift themes:
Gift baskets
Baseball
LEGO
Pokemon card
Fishing
Superhero
Tech
Golf
Star Wars
Racing
And your new favourite way of getting in your 10,000 steps a day is either “Japanese walking” or “interval walking” which is the highest its been since 2008.

Everyone wants a personality
If you find yourself admitting to your Google search bar that you are very tired or intense, then you would be among the many individuals who discover that their personality type is a Type A. In the US, this past month the tip “why is/why am I” Type A questions vary from “why is it important to set realistic goals” to “Why am I always go go go?”. Same.
But for those of you who cannot relate as a Type B, you may find comfort in these searches:
How to clean your house Type B personality.
How to communicate what you are looking for in a relationship.
How can a Type B be more Type A.
How to deal with forgetful people.
How to work together Type B vs Type A. Cute.
“Good jobs for Type B personality” and “What is a Type B child?” both made breakout appearances.
Interest in “What is a Type C person?” exploded recently, alongside searches like “Type C personality be real estate agent.”
Type D personality curiosity doubled last month, with “Is there a Type D personality?” breaking out as a hot question.
In 2025, search interest for Type A, B and C hit record highs:

And if you’re curious which state you would fit in the most with:

This got me curious about personality tests in general, having grown up with Buzzfeed quizzes.
“What cat am I?” searches hit an all-time high in 2025, while “What dog am I?” peaked back in 2022.
The “Type ABCD personality test” surged +190% over the past year, and “personality theory” climbed +600% in five years.
Interest in “workplace personality test” smashed records in 2025, with Myers-Briggs taking the crown as the top searched test overall.
“Which am I test?” also hit a 2025 high, and “color personality test” was a breakout search.
Dogs want to make a comeback though because they have placed 3rd in top trending “what kind of … am I” in the past month:
What kind of bug am I?
What kind of witch am I?
What kind of dog am I?
What kind of Sagittarius am I?
What kind of Pisces am I?
Let’s end things with a weekly trend prediction…
The infantilisation of plant-based foods contributes to its comeback. LSN Global identifies this design and cultural trend as “Vibrant Veganism” in which plant-based products have bold, sensory-rich aesthetics and move away from the minimalist and health-centric visuals we traditionally associated with the lifestyle. Instead, the goal is to convey desire without compromise.
As a vegan for the last 8 years of my life, I find this shift exciting and prevalent in my own life as I see friends who were once skeptical to my choices, being more open to eat meat-free at restaurants when we go out, choose a vegan snack at work, or shop cruelty-free. Designers and brands are clearly adopting this approach to appeal to a wider audience, including those like my friends who may not identify strictly as vegan but are open to the options if they are visually appealing and experientially compelling.
We can see this trend in action in Barcelona - home to the kebab shop “Good Shit”, which uses expressive and spontaneous protest graphics in its branding. This reframes veganism by integrating important messaging on nutrition, environmental concerns, and animal welfare, while avoiding a lecturing tone.
The trend of “Vibrant Veganism” signifies a maturation of the plant-based movement, highlighting its evolution from being a niche dietary choice to a lifestyle options which resonates across various consumer segments.

All trend predictions are hard. Great work in meaningful and scientific research suggesting a new trend
this is such a cool idea I never thought I’d see someone make Google search trends this interesting! I find it so funny how much sea creatures are trending right now I never would have guessed
